A stable dental practice with an effective internal protocol for new patient promotion should expect to gain (earn) about 2% of active patients per month.  That is, for a practice with 1,000 patients 20 new patients referred by these patients is a reasonable expectation and for a practice of 3,000 that new patient flow should be closer to 60 per month. 

Earning new patients at an appropriate level for practice maintenance and growth first requires that the dentist and team know each new patient and how they were earned by the practice. Check out the Members Only section, if that tracking is not being done clearly.
